Der legendäre Lounge Chair mit Ottoman, entworfen 1956 von Charles & Ray Eames und gefertigt von Vitra in Deutschland. Das Ehepaar Eames zählt zu den einflussreichsten Gestaltern des 20. Jahrhunderts; mit dem Lounge Chair schufen sie ihren Entwurf für maximalen Komfort und zugleich eine der bekanntesten Sitzmöbel-Ikonen der Designgeschichte, die bis heute in der Sammlung des Museum of Modern Art vertreten ist.

Sitz, Rücken und Armlehnen ruhen auf drei geschwungenen Schalen aus Formsperrholz, furniert in Santos Palisander. Die lebhafte, rotbraune Maserung mit ihren dunklen Streifen knüpft an die klassische Palisander-Ausführung der ersten Jahrzehnte an; an den Kanten zeichnen sich die hellen Holzschichten fein ab. Die tiefen, geknöpften Polster sind mit weichem, cognacfarbenem Leder bezogen, das mit dem warmen Holzton wunderbar harmoniert. Sessel und Ottoman stehen auf drehbaren Untergestellen aus schwarz pulverbeschichtetem Aluminium, die Rückenstreben mit polierten Kanten. Der Sessel entspricht der aktuellen Vitra-Ausführung mit 89 cm Höhe. Beide Stücke tragen das originale Vitra-Etikett, das Echtheitszertifikat liegt bei.

Es handelt sich um Neuware: ein Ausstellungsstück aus unserem Showroom, das nie im Gebrauch war, zu einem Preis deutlich unter dem aktuellen Neupreis. Ein zweites, identisches Set aus Sessel und Ottoman ist ebenfalls verfügbar.

The legendary Lounge Chair with Ottoman, designed in 1956 by Charles & Ray Eames and produced by Vitra in Germany. Charles and Ray Eames are among the most influential designers of the 20th century; with the Lounge Chair they created their design for ultimate comfort and at the same time one of the best-known seating icons in design history, still held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Seat, back and armrests rest on three curved moulded plywood shells, veneered in Santos rosewood. Its lively reddish-brown grain with dark streaks recalls the classic rosewood version of the early decades; the light wood layers show finely along the edges. The deep, buttoned cushions are upholstered in soft cognac leather that pairs beautifully with the warm tone of the wood. Chair and ottoman stand on swivel bases in black powder-coated aluminium, with polished edges on the back braces. The chair is the current Vitra version with a height of 89 cm. Both pieces carry the original Vitra label, and the certificate of authenticity is included.

This is a new piece: a showroom display item that has never been used, offered well below the current retail price. A second, identical set of chair and ottoman is also available.
