Barcelona Sessel // Barcelona Chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll International

5.950,00 €

Zustand: Ausstellungsstück in neuwertigem Zustand – keine Gebrauchsspuren, Leder makellos.

Barcelona Chair, designed in 1929 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe together with Lilly Reich and produced by Knoll International. Mies van der Rohe, the last director of the Bauhaus and one of the most important architects of the 20th century, created the chair for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona, where it was intended as a seat for the Spanish royal couple. Knoll still produces the design in its original form today, and it remains one of the great icons of modernism.

The elegantly curved X-shaped frame of polished chrome-plated flat steel carries seat and back cushions with the characteristic grid of individually stitched, welted leather panels. The chair is upholstered in Knoll’s soft, full-grain Venezia leather in a rich chocolate brown, which gives the strict geometry a warm, inviting presence.

Its authenticity is fully documented: the chair carries a Knoll serial number, Knoll labels are found under the cushion and on the chrome leg, where the label is still covered by its original protective film, and the Knoll certificate of authenticity is included.

Condition: Showroom piece in as-new condition – no signs of use, flawless leather. The only flaw is a tiny blemish in the chrome on the rear foot of the frame. An attractive alternative to buying new, well below the current list price. A timeless design classic for discerning interiors.
